United Way COVID-19 update: Mobilizing Local Love

 In News

Dear Workers,

I want to take this time to say thank you. Many of us are physically distancing ourselves so that workers on the front lines – health care workers and care providers, our friends working in grocery stores, and postal workers – can continue to help us all manage COVID-19 as safely as possible. It isn’t easy, but it is having an impact. Thank you.

We’ve had an incredible response to the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund from donors like you, and I am proud to be part of such a caring and thoughtful community. Because of your contributions, we’ve launched a new online platform for neighbours to easily connect and get help—we call this mobilizing local love

Staying at home to keep yourself and your community safe can make it difficult to access daily needs, especially for our most vulnerable neighbours. We can offer support with pre-screened volunteers for grocery delivery, dog walking, help with technology, prescription pick-up, a friendly voice on the phone, and more.

I need your help in two ways:

If you are self-isolating and need help, or if you know somebody who needs help, please visit uwlm.ca/mobilizing-local-love and sign up.

If you can volunteer to support a vulnerable person in your neighbourhood in a simple way, please join the effort at uwlm.ca/mobilizing-local-love. And check in regularly for emerging needs for help in your neighbourhood.

Together we can keep our community strong in difficult times, but with your help we will keep it even stronger. That’s what local love is all about!

Take care and stay healthy,

Neal Adolph
