Important Announcement Regarding the CLC 2022 Winter School

Attention 2022 Winter School Delegates – Week 1 & 2

We have been monitoring the COVID-19 situation closely. With the increasing vaccinations and decreasing case counts and hospitalizations, we were very hopeful that the 2022 Winter School could take place safely. However, the new variant has changed that. Between the new restrictions that have been announced over the last few days, the rapid increase in confirmed cases, and the possibility of greater restrictions, there is too much uncertainty for us to move forward with Winter School as we had planned. We understand that many affiliates have to give several weeks of notice to book or cancel union leave, and we want to provide as much notice as possible and do so before the holiday break.

Because of these factors, we will be cancelling Week 1 and Week 2 of the Winter School at this time and will continue to monitor the situation for Weeks 3, 4, and 5. Unfortunately, we are unable to move students in Week 1 or 2 into courses in other weeks at this time, as most courses in those weeks are currently full. Refunds for students in Weeks 1 and 2 will be processed over the next several weeks.

Registration for Weeks 3, 4, and 5 will be closed now until the new year, and we are extending the no-fee cancellation deadline to January 12, 2022. While we are hopeful that the remaining weeks of Winter School will take place, it is very uncertain at this point. Affiliates should plan accordingly.

We are very disappointed that we have to take these measures and were looking forward to seeing everyone at the school. This was not an easy decision, but we believe it is the best one under the circumstances.

I wish everyone a happy and safe holiday.

In solidarity,

Orion Irvine
