Help Save a Sister Battling Cancer

 In News

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Shawn Carr is a member of the ILWU Local 502.  His wife Cheryl Patch is currently battling cancer.  The treatment that will save her life is not approved for her particular type of cancer so will not be covered by the BC Cancer Agency.  She has a rare mutation normally only found in other types of cancer.  They have no option but to pay for it on their own if Cheryl is to survive.  The goal is $200,000 which will cover a year of treatment.

The family has asked me to start this page on their behalf as it is the only way they will be able to afford the treatment.  They have an oncologist willing to administer the treatment but the costs are staggering.  I am asking all those that can for afford it at this time to donate to this campaign.   If we can raise the funds by the end of the year she will be able to start treatment in the new year.  If every member donates $100 we will get there in no time.

I have seen the generosity of the membership in the past and I am sure we as a group will come through to help one of our own in need.

Thank you to everyone in advance.

Please share on social media to get the word out.

In solidarity
