Fairness at Work - Federal Labour Standards for the 21st Century

Part III of the Canada Labour Code was enacted in 1965. It addresses a wide and complex range of matters conventionally covered by labour standards legislation — hours of work, vacations, holidays, wages, leaves and termination of employment — and some not usually found in such legislation, including sexual harassment, unjust dismissal and pay equity. While Part III has been amended several times since, it has never been reviewed comprehensively until now.

Opportunities, Challenges, and Managing Trade - A Labour Perspective

This three-part paper is the result of a coast-to-coast collaboration by our national marine unions. Our paper documents our concerns about where the debate on transporation of marine cargo is headed, mindful that commercial interests appear to have had a higher level of government access than other stakeholders in the debate to date.

The contributions within this paper represent proposals for our policy makers and our communities in developing sound and socially sustainable marine and transportation policy.
